FSSAI and MoFPI signed MoU to handhold MSMEs in Food Sector

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has signed a MoU with Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) on 01 October 2021 to support the Micro Level Food Entrepreneurs, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Producers Cooperatives to improve the standard of their food businesses. As part of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan, this step will help in making the Micro enterprises improve the quality of their food products and become competitive.
There will be two areas of collaboration between FSSAI and MoFPI.
(a) Food Safety Training: Food handlers of micro level food processing units will be provided training on understanding of Good hygiene & Manufacturing practices, food testing process and other regulatory requirements. On successful completion of training, the food handlers will be provided ‘Food Safety Supervisor’ certificate by FSSAI.
(b) Registration & License of the Micro Enterprises: FSSAI and MoFPI would provide support to the micro enterprises towards obtaining FSSAI license and registration.
